Blaine is a Partner at Horizon and has been serving clients across Western Canada since joining the firm in early 2019. His extensive background in energy and technology has translated into a diverse clientele spanning oilfield contractors, service companies, tech companies, manufacturers, agricultural operations, and real estate businesses, in addition to general small and mid-sized businesses.

Blaine grew up on an acreage south of Stettler, Alberta and attended William E. Hay Composite High School. After completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta, he went on to earn his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in the fall of 2019 and his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in the fall of 2021, becoming a dual-designated professional.

Prior to joining Horizon, Blaine held accounting and financial management roles with multiple businesses in the energy, mining, and technology industries. That hands-on experience gave him a deep understanding of the daily challenges businesses face to keep the wheels turning. He holds a strong belief that well-managed finances are just as important to a business as the goods and services it provides.

Blaine is experienced in tax & compliance, developing processes and systems, employee management and overall business operations. He has developed strong expertise in trusts and estates and business acquisitions and sales, guiding clients through some of the most significant financial events of their lives. With a genuine passion for technology and entrepreneurship, he takes pride in identifying opportunities for his clients to grow and evolve.

Blaine lives in South Edmonton and enjoys hockey, mountain biking, and spending time with family.
