Shane founded Horizon CPA in 2017 and services a wide geography of clients across Western Canada. Tax and financial planning interests inspired Shane to become a dual designated professional (Chartered Professional Accountant/Certified Financial Planner) and focus on a holistic approach to financial advisory. Shane has a wide range of experience across many industries and businesses but has a keen focus on agriculture, oil & gas, manufacturing and investment corporations. Shane also specializes in personal financial planning, retirement planning and high net worth situations where land, investments and/or businesses are key components of estate planning, succession and tax optimization.

Shane was born and raised on a family farm near Elnora, Alberta and attended Trochu Valley School growing up. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Alberta where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting Major & Finance Minor) and graduated with Distinction.

After gaining the relevant credentials and experience through work experience in Edmonton and Red Deer, Shane took a leap of faith and Horizon CPA was born. With a refreshing focus on tax, technology and financial planning, the business quickly grew almost entirely on client referrals to where it is now. Shane also ventured into a number of other businesses including partial ownership of Balkwill Pharmacy Ltd with his brother Brandon, the launch of his independent investment practice Wagstaff Wealth Management and most recently took on the role of CFO, shareholder and director of Findoor North America.

Shane is also an avid hockey player, loves to play the guitar and has a keen interest in global financial markets and entrepreneurship. He enjoys spending time with friends and family and is most likely to be found hydrofoiling at Pine Lake in the summers!
